Well it was a bit rushed and I would have liked to have tested it more, but hey, that's always the way.
I'll make another tutorial when I've got some time, but until then have a play and let me know what you think. I've put Beta on the download button because that's what all the cool kids seem to do.

Hopefully future updates won't take as long. This one wasn't helped by me deleting all my code and having to rebuild it from scratch (that's why the French translation bit is currently missing - I'll add that back in when I can).
Good night and thanks for all the jellyfish
Chris
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loving how simple this is to use. My daughter (age10) has taken a ton of pics ready to stop motion, but she has taken them all portrait rather than landscape... when we open all the pics in JellyCam it chops off all the bottom half's of the pics???? Just wondering if theres anything we're missing or does it only work in landcape?
Best Wishes,
Rachel
It just works in landscape at the moment, but you're right, it would be better if it worked in portrait as well.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem is when converting to video, most players (such as those used on YouTube) would force it into landscape proportions so you'd have black bars either side. I guess that's ok, but I'll have a think to see if there's a better way. Either way I'll fix it for the next update.
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteJellycam is so great and so easy to use!
BUT! why can't i save the movie i've made to a video file that i can send to my friends and do other stuff with it?
Am i missing something?
:)
Hi Chris...same trouble as anonymous. Great interface and can save as an flv but can't reopen a project. All the pics are there.
ReplyDeleteJP
Hello jp and Anonymous,
DeleteThe video file created is just a video file, a JellyCam project is a collection of photos, and other bits and bobs. To send a JellyCam project to someone so they can work on it you'd have to send the lot. One directory is created for each project you save. My default these are in a directory called "My JellyCam Movies" on your desktop.
Hope that helps,
Chris
hello!
Deletethank you for answering!
so i understand that i can't upload the file on youtube? if so, too bad... :)
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI love the jellycam! Its so easy to make animations. I'm using it for a project for school, but I do have a problem. When I put it on Youtube the pictures move faster and it doesn't fit with the music anymore. Is there a way that I can solve this?
Thx! Maaike
Hi. Great app. Just made a small animation, but can't seem to upload the flv, youtube always throws back that it can't understand the file format. Have you come across this before?
ReplyDeleteI'm using Air 3.2 / OSX 10.7
cheers
Loving this simple app... refreshingly easy to use : )
ReplyDeleteHi Chris,
ReplyDeleteLove the apps simplicity and ease of use. Has given my son hours of enjoyment with his Brick animation.
In version 4 there seems to be no list of webcams in settings although JellyCam can see both. If it is showing the external webcam and I press the settings button it reverts to the internal webcam with no list to change it.
Any ideas why this would be happening. I am using Win7.
Thanks
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI really like JellyCam and I am currently using it with a group of first graders at my school. I am having a bit of trouble importing sound to our movie. I was hoping to make a podcast and import it but it won't recognize the file I am trying to use. What types of audio files can be recognized in Jelly Cam?
Thank you!
hey chris,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your software as a animator. I find it very simple to use except for one thing. When you capture an image, you don't exactly save it. it's temporarily in the program and if you close the program, you lose all your work. I'm not sure about this because i looked everywhere on my computer and i have not found any place where my work could be saved in. Anyways just wondering if you could patch it where it saves the picture somewhere and at a higher resolution then 320p by 240p. Hope it won't be hard to program thin into jelly cam.
Many jellyfish,
Jack
Silent install of the adobe air file doesn't seem to work.
ReplyDeleteWould really love to be able to create HD content with this, otherwise brilliant
ReplyDeleteWhen the program is creating a video file for the animation, the program some how stops rendering my video on the 480th frame out of a 1,389 frame movie. Why is this happening?
ReplyDeleteIt may be your computer running out of computing power. Making videos takes a lot of grunt and JellyCam isn't the most efficient way of doing things. If you think this is the case it may be possible to get it working on a different machine. Let me know if you want me to have a go.
DeleteHi Chris, I am having this same problem. I get to about 600+ frames out of 1400+ frames and it just stops! You mention working on a different machine....any details on this and I may be able to work off someone else's computer if I know what I am looking for. Otherwise, JellyCam is great, its so easy to use!! Thanks a mil.
DeleteSame here. For me it's frame 764 of 916. Which sucks. And My assignment is due...
DeleteIf you'd like me to have a go at rendering give me a shout on email chris@ticklypictures.com

ReplyDeletewhat audio files work with it?
ReplyDeleteMP3s
ReplyDeleteI have been using this with my class. If I change directory for opening to their stored files, jellycam is finding their files, but still using the names for my flies. Also, if sound has been added, I get their video with my audio from the file that was in that place on the list.
ReplyDeleteWhen i edit the pictures of a jellycam file using photoshop, the app becomes unable to open them, stopping at the first photo i edited. the file format is still png, but it still doesnt work. is there a fix for this?
